The
members of Cartoon Johnny are happy to congratulate CJ's bass, Alan
Tom, on his recent engagement to very lovely and very sweet Mimi
Kim. The couple hasn't yet set a date but will probably wed sometime
in 2004.
Congratulations

It's so close to being ready you can almost taste it. Cartoon Johnny wrapped
recording on "Sebastian" earlier this week and the group is finishing
the selection of the last live tracks to complete the soon-to-be-released,
as-yet-untitled EP. Keep checking this site for details.

Great show last night with the Tone Rangers! The crowd loved the rockin' Journey
Medley as well as the debut of the originial "Better From Here" featuring Kieran
Daly up front. To some audience members, Daly seemed extraordinarily passionate
about the song.
"Why?
Because my eyes were closed? Well, I was definitely into it," said
Daly. "And yeah I was doing my best to not forget the words
for the first performance of the song, but that's not why I kept
them closed throughout almost the whole song. Have you ever felt
the sting of sweat in your eyes?"
After
CJ left the stage, the Tone Rangers delivered a hilarious set featuring
the audience favorite "Wild Thing." It's too funny to try
to recap. You'll have to catch it at one of their
shows.

The group has been working hard mixing their forthcoming EP. Keep an eye out
for it. Should be ready within the next couple of months, and it will include
great live performances as well as the full version of "Careless Whisper."
Until
then, you can hear a few new songs when Cartoon Johnny joins the
Tone Rangers for a show at Jammin' Java on September 24. They'll
be debuting "The Journey Medley" as well as another new
song from Mike Henrickson, "Better From Here." Visit the calendar for
more details.

When Cartoon Johnny was offered a chance to sing at last night's Arlington
A Cappella Festival, they had now idea how much fun it would be. "The
crowd was just great," said Kevin Dixon, CJ's "extremely
shy" baritone. "I think I got a few numbers!"
We're pretty sure that's all talk, but who knows. One audience member seemed
quite happy to be serenaded by Dixon during "Higher and Higher," the
closing number of CJ's set. "He definitely has a way with the ladies," said Darcy
Romano, Cartoon Johnny's estrogen quotient.
Of course, the night was full of surprises from Fourth
Avenue and The Tone
Rangers, as well as from hosts Da
Vinci's Notebook, who awarded audience members that submitted their song
requests with "great" prizes, including an uncooked hamburger. Bet
you're kickin' yourself now if you missed it. Of course, the music was great
too. From Fourth Avenue's rendition of "Are You Gonna Go My Way" to
The Tone Rangers' hilarious rendition of "Wild Thing" to DVN's "Title
Of The Song," the audience got a little bit of everything.
If you missed them last night, be sure to catch Cartoon Johnny's next show,
a free outdoor concert in Great Falls on August 3. See the calendar for
details.

Cartoon Johnny's vocal percussionist, the studly and always charming Joe
Yoon, may have made a Love Connection at last night's CJ show at the Clarendon
Ballroom "Love In A Fishbowl" event. After the 12 rounds of speed
dating were over, the audience voted and chose Joe and Hillary as one of three
pairings that had enough of a spark to at least warrant a full-fledged date.
We'll let you know if anything develops.
When he wasn't charming the ladies, Joe was singing with Cartoon Johnny, whose
two sets were a hit with the enthusiastic crowd. The show marked the first
performance of "Shape of My Heart," featuring Alan
Tom on lead. "I was looking for the perfect opportunity to bust out
and show the people just what I got," said Tom. "I think it's safe
to say I blew them away. I'm pretty damn good."
See Cartoon Johnny perform live Saturday, July 19 at the Arlington A Cappella
Festival. Details.

Cartoon Johnny had a great show at Lexington High School in Lexington, MA.
It was a homecoming show for CJ's Joe Yoon, who was cheered on by his home
town with booming shouts of "YOOOOOOOON!".
The
show marked the first performance of "I'd Die Without You" featuring
Joe on lead and Mike filling in on VP. The highlight of the show
was CJ's first public performance of "Bring Me To Life" which
brought the house down.
