This summer has been a blast for the group. Great shows, some very creative recording sessions, and continued support for our debut EP, Face The Music. We'd like to thank everyone who has come out to see the shows and purchased the disc. You make it all possible.

At the same time, summer has marked a time of exciting but bittersweet transition. Alan Tom, our wise-cracking and loyal cohort, will step down from the position of full-time bass for Cartoon Johnny in September. We'll wish him well and celebrate his two plus years with the group at a special farewell show on September 8 at Jammin' Java (see calendar for details).

Don't worry! Alan will pop up at a show from time to time, as he'll keep up with our repertoire and perform as sub for our brand new bass from time to time. On the 8th though, he'll pass the torch and help us welcome, Evan Edwards. A former UVA Hullabahoo, Evan brings his own style to Cartoon Johnny and is ready to tackle the challenge of reaching the bar set so high by Alan Tom.

Cartoon Johnny participated in the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes Regional Competition this past Sunday. They performed a rocking set: a new version of "Walking on Sunshine," followed by the original "What I Want," and closed with the "tender ballad," "Any Way You Want It."

The group would like to congratulate Mosaic for winning the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Regional Title. They will represent the region at the national finals in San Rafael California in May. Congratulations also to Blue Jupiter, who won "Audience Favorite," and to the rest of the groups who all put on a fantastic show.

In other news. the group will be competing in the Harmony Sweepstakes on Sunday April 4. They've also just been added to the Mary Washington College Symphonics' Spring Invitational Concert next Saturday, March 20, at 8 pm. See the calendar for more details about both of these great shows.
